“Yoga is not about touching your toes, it is what you learn on the way down."

- Jigar Gor

Initially, the physical (asana) practice of yoga brought me to the mat, helping my body stay strong and supple. But it was the breathwork (pranayama), the meditation, the philosophy and deep yogic traditions, that kept me coming back. Each of these elements enriched my life in profound ways.

I was introduced to these practices on the mat, but I soon noticed their presence off the mat. I began to feel calmer, more grounded and centered after each class. I gained more awareness to my breath, both on and off the mat. The pranayama and meditative side of yoga had been seamlessly woven into the asana portion of the classes, and they flowed into my daily life off the mat.

While gaining strength, balance and mobility through the poses, the mat is a safe place to witness breathwork, meditation and mindfulness. Experience them on the mat, then take them off the mat and see where they take you!
